Charity Blocks

Just a little sewing lately... Our Friendship Group is working on blocks for a charity quilt. The only requirements were for the blocks to be 12.5" unfinished, and made of black, white, and/or gray fabrics, with a Modern aesthetic.

My two favorite blocks are Log Cabin and Churn Dash, which are both very traditional. So, I chose to make mine more Modern by using fun, modern prints and solids.

That's a cool log cabin variation! I wonder why log cabin is so popular...it is my favorite block too and I've seen a few online surveys and log cabin and star always seem to win out. There's just something about it--how it can be arranged in different patterns and maybe the geometry of the different lengths. I don't know, but I like it! Your churn dash is lovely too...where will your group donate the quilt?
