It wasn't in the box that I thought it should be in.
Or in the next box.
So, I went a little crazy and did this.....
I dumped four boxes and two baskets of fabric out on my bed. And sorted.
Not really a detailed sort. Just some general piles.
Flannel and Minkie for baby blankets; sheets and pillowcases; fabric that had a previous life (clothing, curtains, tablecloths); other fabric; and fabric with potential.
Fabric with potential is anything that I can look at and see what it's going to be. Or fabric that I just love and know it will turn into something fabulous one day.
After sorting it all, I forgot what I was looking for!
It all went back into the boxes. But at least it's a little more organized now.

This is a nice blog. I like it!
I'm getting ready to do this too! I just inherited a 13 gallon trash bag FULL of fabulous fabric from my mother :) So I need to get it all organized - I need to find some tubs or something to put it all in!
I'm laughing because I was just talking about you and your fabric yesterday. I can still confine all of mine to one Trader Joe's bag and a couple of Walmart bags. I've noticed though, that I'm buying fabric just because it's cheap, even though I have no CLUE what I'm going to do with it.. need to slow down on that!
I love your blog...and the fact that it sounds just like me is great!!! I have so much fabric and craft supplies, that when I go looking for something, I get side-tracked and forget what I came in there for....LOL.

Sometimes sorting is like visiting with old friends. "Oh hello pink gingham, I forgot I had you!"
Oh yes, I feel your pain! I did something very similiar yesterday, looking for a pillowcase to make a dress, and ended up sorting through my ufo's!
It's always dangerous to have to look through your stash - the urge to organize might set in!
I did that awhile ago and decided to sell a bunch of my fabric at a yard sale, I just had more than I'll ever use because like another poster, I was just buying pieces here and there because it was on sale and a pretty color, who was I to pass up a bargain even though I have no idea when or how I was going to use it..lol. Like most of my craft supplies!! :)
Is it wrong that I think that sounds like it was fun?
Haha!
I agree with Jane - some of my fabrics are "old friends", too. It's nice to visit them once in awhile.
: )
And now you're even more organized!
