Last night, hubby was working late, so I decided to go on a date.
With this handsome little devil.
(Yes, he's laying on the floor, wagging his arms and legs in the air. And no, I don't know why.)
He was a bit hesitant about accepting my offer of Chicken Bites and a Churro, but eventually couldn't resist. Stepping outside the house was wonderful. It was a cool 77* and there was a lovely breeze. Could it be fall? Oh yes, it's on the way!
We went to one of my favorite casual Mexican restaurants. We dined al fresco, watching teenagers loiter around the patio. Nathan ate his dinner without me having to nag. He had a ball pulling faces at me with a big cinnamon-sugary smile.
Back home, the evenings entertainment was a rousing game of Red Caboose. I gave him a run for his money, but eventually he won.
There was something fun and special about having an evening out with my son. We rarely go out to dinner just the two of us. It was a lovely evening.

:-) That is nice.
Sounds like it was a super night!!
You'll be amazed at how children will place value on the little things. I'll bet Nathan enjoyed that as much as you did, and when he's a little older he might say "do you remember how we used to go to that Mexican restaurant for a night out every once in a while - just you and I" and that's when you realize how special it was to him. Sweet post!
I forgot to tell you that your name was one of the two drawn in my fabric giveaway.I hope you can use it. Congratulations!
Sounds like a lovely evening! I love taking my kids out to lunch by myself - usually just for a hamburger and fries, but I hope these are some memories that will stick out as they grow up.
What a special treat for the two of you!
Congrats on your fabric win over at Dinah's blog! Lucky you!
Lovely post. I used to take my older son out for a smoothie every Thursday afternoon. Love spending one on one time with that boy!
That sounds like a great time. I love when I get to spend one on one time with my kids.
